Should I Hire a Makeup Artist?

Yes, the answer is always yes! If you're planning a special event or having professional photographs taken, I always encourage and sometimes demand hiring someone who can help accentuate your beauty.
Especially when it comes to your photos, a professional makeup artist is skilled in knowing what works for every situation & equipped to handle it. I am always up for new ways to DIY and possibly save a little money, but I say stick with the pro when it comes to your makeup and hair. Even when going for a natural look, you still want to glow. If you are paying good money for professional pictures and have a full day ahead of you, you want to look your best.
Hiring a professional will help your day run smoothly, and you will look flawless while doing so. When getting your photograph taken, specific techniques help accent your features, and the photographer will love you for this. Sessions, where you can see improper makeup blending or insufficient help with the hair and constant fly-aways can be devastating after hiring a photographer to capture your needs.
So I say don't risk it, let yourself be pampered! Not sure how to go about it, here are a few tips to help.
1. Take a look through their portfolio. Most have websites or electronic profiles you can look at in the comfort of your home. Each person has a different idea of what to aim for, so find the artist who fits your vibe.
2. Referrals. Good word of mouth can go a long way.
3. Social Media. You can find many different artists and their work at a click of a button.
4. Do a trial run if this is for a big event. You will want to see how your makeup will look before the big day. That way, you can make changes before it's too late.
If you need more help, talk with your photographer. Some even include makeup artists in their packages, depending on what it’s for.
